Youssef Adnan, ConnectmeTV Co-founder and VP of Engineering, spoke as a featured pioneer in Open Source Software application at the First Afro - Arab Open Source Software Forum in Egypt. Presenting on June 16th, 2010 at Cairo’s Ramsis Hilton Hotel, Adnan examined, in “Making Profit with Open Source Software”, the different Open Source Software Licenses and how best to leverage Open Source Software to make money.
“As Open Source Software (OSS) plays a major portion of the core of our application offerings at ConnectmeTV, we were happy to share our experience and insight in this field with the community” said Youssef Adnan.
The First Afro-Arab Open Source Software Forum was held under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Darwish, State Minister of Administrative Development. The forum highlighted the benefits of adopting open source software policies to cut costs and speed up IT investment decisions. The forum featured representatives from the United States, Kenya, el Bahrain and Morrocco, who shared their insights on open source software policies.
“The market trend shows that there is an inverse relationship between the economy and the OSS sales. While the economy is going down, the OSS sales and usage in the business is going up,” Adnan added.
With over 12 years of experience in system development and deployment for large services and consulting companies, Adnan is the brain behind the development of new services and applications at ConnectmeTV. Before moving back to Egypt from the United States, he spent four years consulting with ITWorx for a Fortune 500 firm in Hartford, CT, and as a Technical Lead position with a collaborative consulting firm in Atlanta, GA.
